Genius Main Title Arrangement by Giuliano Ferrace Leanza

On this day four years ago, I uploaded this video to Youtube to participate in a contest organized by the great Hans Zimmer.

This contest consisted of creating an arrangement based on the main title theme of the National Geographic "Genius", series that, regardless of this, I watched since its premiere .

I've always been so addict to documentaries, and in this ocasion it was about Einstein.

(Besides having Geoffrey Rush as the prota, one of my favourite actors).

I don't know why i didn't still have a blog by the time, in which i could talk about this kind of experiences, besides sharing my knowledge and the process of my works... here I am, cathing up... 😝

Además, my plan is to start blogging about my compositions and arrangements, so I thought this is good occastion to star with this.

Coming back to this post theme:

As you may have apreciated, it's a short piece (1 minuto aprox.)

The soundtrack of the series was composed by Lorne Balfe (who worked at the Hans Zimmer's company), but the main theme was composed by Hans Zimmer.

Luego de pensar bastante con respecto al tipo de arreglo que creía más conveniente, y original, se me ocurrió jugar un poco con la forma sonata.

Es sabido que Einstein era amante de la música clásica y aficionado al violín.

Alguna vez dijo: "Si no fuera físico, probablemente sería músico. A menudo pienso en música. Vivo mis sueños en mi música. Veo mi vida en términos musicales. No puedo decir si habría podido hacer alguna pieza creativa de importancia en la música, pero sí sé que lo que más alegría me da en la vida en mi violín".

On the other hand, I thought I'd use the  Ondes Martenot  because it's generally asociated to the image "laboratory", geniuses, experiments , etc.

The original piece uses some synthesized sounds, surely, I think, looking for something similar.

Pero bueno, I thought Ondes Martenot is an instrument closer to Einstein's time.

, I liked te the idea of giving it more protagonism.

Lastly, I added a ticking clock sound. I simply prooved it, and i found that it worked.

Hope you liked this post.

¡I read you!
